Create a Google Sheet Question

Google Sheet questions allow you to evaluate candidates’ ability to analyze, manipulate, or compute data in a spreadsheet. You can either provide a Google Sheet link or upload an Excel file for the assessment.

Go to Step 2 of creating or editing a test.

Click the Google Sheet card


Add Question Details

Description

Provide a detailed description explaining the task.

Add Skill (Optional)

Tag the skills you are assessing. This is for internal reference.


Upload File

You can provide the spreadsheet in two ways:

    1. Upload Excel file (.xlsx, .csv)
    2. Upload Google Sheet link
  • Maximum file size: 10 MB

Select Scoring Method

Manual Scoring

  • Candidate submissions must be scored manually.
  • No test cases are required or allowed.
  • Useful for open-ended spreadsheet tasks or analysis-based questions.

Auto Scoring

  • Candidate submissions are automatically evaluated using test cases.
  • You must add at least one test case.

Add Test Cases (Auto Scoring Only)


Click Add Test Case to open the test case modal:

Fields to Add:

Field Description
Test Case Name Enter a descriptive name for the test case
Weightage Percentage or points assigned to this test case
Enter Score Maximum score for this test case
Sheet Name Name of the sheet in the file (e.g., Sheet1)
Cell No Cell to check (e.g., H3)
Cell Value Expected value for the cell
  • Save the test case after adding.
  • Test cases can be edited or deleted at any time.

Mark Question as Unscorable (Optional)

  • If selected, the question will not contribute to the average score.
  • Useful for qualitative tasks or optional exercises.

Candidate Experience

  • Candidates see the uploaded Google Sheet or Excel file.
  • They complete tasks in the specified cells or as instructed.
  • Automatic scoring evaluates expected values in test case cells.
  • Manual scoring allows evaluators to review and assign points.
